Time To Leave The Capsule If You Dare

I love sci-fi. I could never leave this planet. It’s a constant struggle.

However, the recent Rover landing was a huge moment for many, and I couldn’t help but to think of some sort of WALL-E flying through space, letting out an R2 inspired squeal, before landing on Mars. I am totally wrong, but it was a fun thought.

I asked on Twitter: In honor of the #NASA Mars rover #Curiosity…what is your favorite song about space, science, etc?

Of course, Space Oddity was high on the list.

Here are more songs on my “Best of Space’ list, in no particular order. What do you think? What’s your favorite…anything I forgot or should check out?

-Space Dementia: Muse

-Space Oddity: David Bowie

-(and following that) Bowies in Space: Flight of the Conchords

-The Fifth Element soundtrack (Eric Serra)

-Star Wars film scores (John Williams). Especially like Princess Leia’s Theme.

-The Planets (Holst). Star Wars scores seemed to be very much influenced by this glorious work.

-Third Stone From The Sun (Hendrix)

-Knights of Cydonia (Muse)

-Walking on the Moon (The Police)

-Walking on the Moon (Karmin)

-Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)

-Great Gig in the Sky (ok, not quite space, but it is my favorite Pink Floyd piece so I had to)

-Across the Universe (Beatles)

This is really the tip of the iceberg of great space themed songs! Give me your ideas!

That’s really far out, man!
